The Mother-Child Bond

First off, thank you Bonnie. Are you the bonnie i met that day at collins' house, or are you a different bonnie? If you are, how do you know everybody. Basically, i'm trying to understand how everybody knows each other, how they met, and all that sort of thing. I'm trying to keep tabs on everyone, its something collins' put me in charge of.

My movie thing that i have been working on is finally finished...however its trapped in the UW computer lab. That's the part that sucks...i spent hours making it perfect and getting it into MPEG format, which for all those who don't know what that means, it basically means that everyone can watch it on their computers. (For all those out there, i am going to make a declaration that i am in know way a computer savant...i just know somethings, and that is all. I don't even have the trademark pocket protectors...)

Anyway though, so that is that. I should have the movie for everybody to watch on monday or tuesday, depending on how much more i have to work on my paper. And i do have a great deal to work on. I just couldn't get that movie onto a CD in time, and it was on a apple computer, and the computer lab closed...so many reasons...

Hey...on a side note, Mr. T is on Conan tonight...yeah. Conan rules...jay leno sucks...

Let's see...there was something else i was going to address...oh yes...the mother-child bond...

I have an explanation for the mother-child bond...it is actually an evolutionary/altruism theory that is accepted by many evolutionary psychologists and such. Basically, the idea is that mother's will protect their children feriociously because they have a shared interest...those children share their genetic code. As a result, the mother will risk her life to save and protect their child because that child is holding the only way that the mother will be able to live on forever... According to gene-based theories and theories of altruism and selfishness...the mother isn't really being altruistic (kind-hearted), but selfish...

However, with that said, i should say that it is just a theory, and despite the evidence for it...theories are just theories...

and in the end, a mother doesn't necessarily think, "Hey, i need to save my child from that danger because if i don't then my gene's won't get passed into the future"...but rather she is probably having geniune emotions at play.

I personally believe that altruism does exist...
and it doesn't necessarily happen because we are selfish about things...

anyway, that is my boring spiel on the issue...sorry to have bored you all...its just something i have learned in comparitive psychology...
its an interesting class.

I'm tired now, and need some sleep desperately.
