I think I have a strong philosophical reason for definitely not seeking {success...} It relies on the spatio-temporial experience of {world} that we all have...
Recall that we live in time in a three fold way
Potential {future}..
Actual {present}{sp?}..
Previous{past}...
Life is the actualization of potential and the actual becoming previous. The two phenominon are contiguous at what we call the moment, this is the moment of being, however, we constantly experience the moment in different ways... If there is a meaningful way to live then we must assume that any being capable of experiencing the moment is capable of experiencing it in meaning. Meaning is something universial in time in as much as it necessarily is actual. Every potential must have meaning because in the actualization of potential the actual necessarily will have meaning and hence the potential was meaning or contained meaning as one of it's parts....The meaning of the previous is only in that we can use the previous to find meaning in the actual by reflection on what is no longer present in the actual, which was present in the previous. I.E. since meaning is universal everything ephemeral {capable of passing from actual to previous} necessarily is not meaningful... We must of course accept that this world and everything in it will no longer exist once we are dead {no longer capable of experiencing the moment} {or at least once we no longer exist, if after death we continue to exist..}..I say that meaning must be universal because the place/time of our birth {the world we are born into} is seemingly arbitrary, if life apart from life now/then/there/here, is to have meaning, then we must conclude that meaning is universal... otherwise a person born into a poor/rich here/there then/now family will be incapable of having a life with meaning and we would then be incapable of determining if we are born into the correct world for meaning to exist, hence, no life would be capable of having meaning if we assert that for a life to have meaning the being experiencing the life must necessarily be able to recognise the meaning of it.
The point of all this is a final analysis of sucess in our world {time/place/concept}. In different parts of the world success has a different connotation than it does in America, at different times in the earths history the {right} course of action {way to live life} has changed, hence, the concept of success isn't universal. the word success is ephemeral and therefore to seek success is not meaningful to a being experiencing the moment. If we are to live life in the experience of the moment of being then we can not let potentials which are arbitrary and ephemerial distract us, for such distraction is without meaning... We may as well sit in a corner and randomly contract our muscles for such an action is as meaningful as any other ephemeral action, it has as much value to the being...Life takas place in the constant flow of time, the changing of the moment of being in dynamic and unpredictable ways... The most universal aspect of being in the moment is being itself and nothing more, for any being whcih exists and is capable of experiencing the moment necessarly has being and is in the flow of the moments. So do not let the posative/negative concepts {reinforced behaviors} of your world distract you and drive you out of the moment, such a fate is equivalent to death...
EndRant......................................
Bonnie, I am happy that you have decided to remain friends with the {us}... I agree with you about emotion, however, I am trying to find reason not only becuse if there is reason not to then I am wrong in my agreement with you... I allways attack/challenge everything I think/believe... I must question what can be questioned because if something can be questioned then it may not be universal...................
