Ok, so I know we've been through this one before, and it wasn't pretty, but it looks as if we'll revisit it: The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. You call them "Unnecessary." No. As has been pointed out in the past, the bombing of those two cities with nuclear weapons killed no more people than would have died in the sustained bombings and ground invasion that would have been necessary otherwise. The choice to use atomic bombs saved many lives, both for the Allies and for the Empire of Japan. It brought the war to a close much sooner than would have been possible with conventional techniques.

Bin Laden's "demands" have been more or less the same all along; and in fact they have been the same as all Arab extremists for some time: to end the existence of the Israeli state. Their attacks upon the United States have been because of our continuing support of the Israelis. If you new history or current world events, or were capable of pulling your head out of your ass, you'd have known what the hell is going on around you.

ter·ror·ism
n.
The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

Pretty simple.
Their methods of intimidation in this case are designed to make Americans afraid to go about our day-to-day activities. If we let them, they've won half the battle.

Onward.

Hell of a week. Alex Zanardi lost both his legs in a crash yesterday in CART racing. That sucks majorly. But Juan Pablo Montoya got his first F1 win at Monza. That's pretty cool. So a melancholy week altogether. Ok maybe not even as good as melancholy. Pretty shitty all around really. Melancholy for motorsports though.

Later.
