I just got this in my email:
>
> A MESSAGE FOR BIN LADEN
> Osama Bin Laden, your time is short;
> We'd rather you die, than come to court.
> Why are you hiding if it was in God's name?
> Your just a punk with a turban; a pathetic shame.
>
> I have a question, about your theory and laws;
> "How come you never die for the cause?"
> Is it because you're a coward who counts on others?
> Well here in America, we stand by our brothers.
>
> As is usual, you failed in your mission;
> If you expected pure chaos, you can keep on wishing'
> Americans are now focused and stronger than ever;
> Your death has become our next endeavor.
>
> What you tried to kill, doesn't live in our walls;
> It's not in buildings or shopping malls.
> If all of our structures came crashing down;
> It would still be there, safe and sound.
>
> Because pride and courage can't be destroyed;
> Even if the towers leave a deep void.
> We'll band together and fill the holes
> We'll bury our dead and bless their souls.
>
> But then our energy will focus on you;
> And you'll feel the wrath of the Red, White and Blue.
> So slither and hide like a snake in the grass;
> Because America's coming to kick your ass!!!
>
> Keep this email going. PASS IT ON!.
I admit, that this really makes me P.O.ed at the americans who hold this large amount of predudice. I can understand them being upset.... and maybe even if it was someone they knew who got killed... but as this old saying goes 'violence only begets more violence'.
Is there any real point to writing this and saying 'PASS IT ON'. It will only make people more upset and want to destroy the country. THe poem does point out some true facts of cowardice and questions on Bin Ladins part... But I'm not taking sides... it's hard to explain what I am meaning to say. The closest and shortest statement I can come up with is simply this.
The violence of the world is something that we as a human race keep repeating. If one steps on our toes we feel in turn we must step on theirs or someone elses in retribution. It is said that we learn as a race from the mistakes in our past, and yet we keep repeating the most obvious and destructive ones over and over again. Isn't it time to bring an end to it at last?
Okay... that sounds sort of lame and maybe 'cowardly' to some, but it's how I feel. I admit though, that if someone I had cared about had been in that incident, I would want retribution, but at the same time I would want an end to this continuous circle of violence. Just take out the ones who are the leaders then... don't go killing the whole country because they are led by them.
